NYS GMRS Alliance PRESS RELEASE: The NYS GMRS Alliance has developed an additional path for members to contact the Alliance with questions or concerns. This new communication opportunity is part of the transition to our Regional Director format. The ability to directly contact the RD's should expedite communications between the members and the leadership team. This new feature is exclusively reserved for Alliance members. Non-members can still contact the Alliance team through the support@nysgmrsalliance.com account.

NEWS UPDATE
The Simplex Radio Relay planned for March 11th is being postponed. Although several operators originally expressed interest, very few followed through with providing the information necessary to plan the relay.

NYS GMRS Alliance NEWS RELEASE: The NYS GMRS Alliance is in the process of planning a 'Simplex Radio Relay'. Twenty Alliance members have already expressed interest in participating and we encourage those stations to respond to the email sent out a few days ago. For any other Alliance members who are interested in learning more please contact us at support@nysgmrsalliance.com and please use the subject line 'simplex relay'. This will be a practical exercise with real world implications.

NYS GMRS Alliance PRESS RELEASE: This morning beginning at approximately 10:19am members of the Alliance along with members of the leadership team noticed unusual activity on the 575 simulcast system. It appeared that an unauthorized internet-based connection had been purposely set up and tied into the Syracuse 575 input. President Carl engaged with one of the illegitimate participants from Pennsylvania over the air and advised them that they must break the unauthorized connection. Furthermore, President Carl informed him that the responsible parties should contact the Alliance through our support@nysgmrsalliance.com email.
The leadership team quickly identified a few suspects based on previous correspondence and call-signs noted throughout the morning. A few Alliance members engaged in research and evidence gathering while others mobilized an action plan that included sending two Alliance operators to the area of a prime suspect. Many details were confirmed through the process and President Carl sent a clearly stated email to the main suspect in the Syracuse area. Here is a brief excerpt from the email:
“We ask that you immediately remove the Zello connection to the Alliance 575 Simulcast system. Please confirm receipt of this email and advise when the connection is severed. If you do not confirm receipt of this email and remove the Zello connection to the Alliance 575 Simulcast system by 12pm tomorrow (February 24th 2024), we will be contacting the FCC to assist in resolving this issue.”
As a result of the quick and thorough response from the Alliance leadership team at 3:37pm we received an email from the guilty party in which he apologized for his irresponsible acts and ensured us that the connection has been severed.

NYS GMRS Alliance PRESS RELEASE: The Alliance is pleased to announce the appointments of Regional Directors in certain regions in accordance with the Alliance Interactive Mapping Utility (AIMU). Regions 1, 2, 3 and 9 contained at least 10 members in good standing as of February 1st when the nomination period began.
The Alliance would like to thank everyone who participated in the nomination process as well as those who agreed to stand for the nominations.

NYS GMRS Alliance NEWS RELEASE: The Alliance unveiled a new interactive mapping utility during the Monday night net on 1/15/2024. The new map is a 'members only' resource and we are confident that it will have many practical applications. It is another example of how the NYS GMRS Alliance is dedicated to helping our members get the most out of their GMRS license.
