What is the relationship between the NYS GMRS Alliance and the Greater Rochester GMRS Alliance?

This radio club is known as the NYS GMRS Alliance. That is also the name that appears on our web site, facebook, telegram and email. The issue became complicated when the group filed for a DBA as suggested by a professional financial adviser. At that time the leadership team was informed that in New York State one cannot use the letters NYS in a DBA. New York State government operates from a position that they essentially own and control nearly every thing, including certain letters of the alphabet. So, to complete the DBA filing the leadership team had to create a separate DBA name. At that time it was decided to file as the 'Greater Rochester GMRS Alliance'. For all practical and everyday purposes we will still be known as the NYS GMRS Alliance.
